I don't normally go out of my way to review stuff on Amazon but it's a shame this TPB has only review - a three sentence, one star review at that. This was a really enjoyable read. Betty & Veronica Vixens, for better or worse, borrows a lot from mid-60's exploitation films like Russ Meyer's "Faster Pussycat, Kill, Kill" (directly mentioned as an influence in the TPB's foreward), and 70's Japanese Delinquent Girl films like the Stray Cat Rock series. It does so in a way that is much, much closer and more respectful to its inspirations than a lot of other work inspired by those films. This, of course, means that it does fall into cliche quite often, just like the other reviewer mentioned, but it does those cliches incredibly well. It is also, like the other reviewer mentioned, not an accurate depiction of biker gangs, but neither were the films it was inspired by and expecting any of these stories to be that is missing the point entirely. This is nothing more than a fun story about a group of girls who are tired of the mundanities of their lives and decide they really want to beat up/stab some dudes, ride motorcycles, and wear cool outfits, much to the chagrin of a lot of the people in their community. The girls just happen to be characters from the Archie universe. There's also some nice fanservice here for fans of Little Archie, and the characters that pop up here are much, much closer to their appearances in the source material than they were when they popped up in the Riverdale TV series.
Your enjoyment of this book is going to vary wildly based on how much you like the concept of Betty, Veronica, and their friends riding around on motorcycles, getting into shenanigans, and beating the hell out of people. There's some scenes of the girls bonding and some light exposition every now and then (mostly towards the beginning) but other than that there's not a whole lot else to it. I had a great time reading it.

Betty Veronica Vixens Vol 1 Jamie L Rotante Eva Cabrera 9781682558997 Books Reviews
Archie comics (in spite of frequent sexual innuendo, ironically), are usually intended for the littlest toddlers who are supposedly curious about how glamorous and far-fetched life would be once their teenage years arrive.
Now this spanking new graphic novel is aimed at SLIGHTLY older readers, especially the female ones during this current Age of Grrl Power and of course, her nasty little sister, Lolita with "Juicy" written in sparkling glitter across her tiny neon-pink bottom.
Starting out as innocent children not yet out of high school, Betty and Veronica unwittingly run into trouble with goons on the wrong side of the law when the boys (naturally!) invite them along for a wild ride on THEIR motorcycles. Then our Best Friends Forever decide to get involved by rounding up all their gal pals, buying expensive motorcycles, and learning how to ride them, too.
Now dressed in studded skintight leather, the dreamy babes of Riverdale have pledged sisterhood - almost to the point of misandry - and go out to save the day by rescuing ex-girlfriends and driving baddies out of the town. But they also get into big brawls, biting off ears and spitting into the faces of their enemies and then giving them the bird as a sign of victory. Hopefully, this will NOT inspire our own young girls reading this stuff into joining the gang in real life.
Freshly blossomed for all eternity to come, Betty, Veronica, Midge, Cheryl Blossom, and all the other females of Archie comics - including long-lost characters from "Little Archie" like Evelyn Evernever, Bubbles McBounce, and Penny Peabody - are drawn like vaguely 1970s-style anime girls with flowing shampoo commercial hair. They are also dressed and groomed in vaguely 1950s-style fashion. It is meant to be a wistful "bad girl" fantasy.
Oh, and unlike regular old Archie comics of your childhood, this one includes some naughty words like "dammit" and even "orgasmic", believe it or not!
Terrible plot. Jumps all over the place and doesnt explain situations. Very cliche and inaccurate biker gang troupes.
