She writes great books, great characters, has great imagination in more genres than I can count. I honestly can't think of a person I know I can't recommend a J Kenner book for. Having a bad day, pick up J K and she'll have me in Cali kicking demon butt and laughing all the way in no time! What can I say, you keep writing them, and I'll keep reading them!

Deja Demon The Days and Nights of a DemonHunting Soccer Mom Kate Connor Demon Hunter Julie Kenner 9780425221907 Books Reviews
I thoroughly enjoyed the suspense mixed with humor and parenting issues and demon/zombie disposal methods. Lots of plot twists to keep one guessing.
The next installment of the Kate Conner Demon Hunting Soccer Mom series is all that I expected from Julie Kenner. I can't help but love Kate and her family as she juggles demon hunting, training her daughter to be a demon hunter while hiding it from her wife, being a wife, demon hunting, and an ex husband who is on the scene in a most unusual way. I don't want to give too much away...definitely go out and read this book, but start at the beginning of the series.
I enjoy Kenner's "Demon" books. This one is the fourth, and I've read two of the first three (but I can't remember which two and my books are in storage). Though the author does a decent job of laying everything out so an unfamiliar reader could pick it up and jump right in without missing anything, there were a few holes and I was a little confused. But otherwise, this was another fun installment perfect for whiling away cold nights when it gets dark too early.
Julie Kenner writes a great story that all suburban moms can identify with as they run their daily carpooling lives. This plot brings the humdrum tasks of stuffing easter eggs to an all-time high as the heroine fights off demons and zombies and explains why a zombie hand is crawling through her dining room to a group of startled dinner guests. A wonderful, tongue-in-cheek read.
I love this series.
Book #4 in the Soccer Mom series. This book rehashes many of the previous storylines so you would be lost if you don't start this series at the beginning.
Kate's life is busy enough with a toddler, a teenage daughter and a husband running for political office - what she doesn't need are two angry demons joining forces to take her off the planet. There is just no reasoning with Abaddon and Goramesh - you would think that demons would have a better sense of humor. But, no, it's up to Kate, with a little help from her friends, to save San Diablo from the infestation of Demons and Zombies. But how do you do that while still trying to find a giant rabbit for the neighborhood Easter Party?
So while Kate is patrolling at night with David who isn't only David, Kate must finally come to terms with her husband Stuart and put all of her hunting paraphernalia on the table and come clean about who she really is and if he wants to stay married to a level 5 demon hunter.
Book #4 in the Demon-Hunting Soccor Mom series. Humor- check. Snarky comments/thoughts- check. Toddlers and teens- check. Demons- check. Zombies- new...hmmmm. Hubby #1(previously deceased) vs hubby #2- check. Easter Bunny- new. More intensity- less trips to the grocery store. More demons. A teenage daughter (almost) happily doing household chores- che.... Wait! What? Well, I'll say it again. Still a great piece of fiction! Love this series!!
It pains me, but I have to give "Deja Demon" an average rating. Unlike Kenner's previous Kate Connor books, I wasn't completely enthralled. Here, Kate is again working the suburban super mom by day, demon hunter by night gig. Now more friends and family know about her than not. Her daughter is a hunter in training, her best friend helps with research, and Eddie (the live in elderly man who is NOT her husband's grandpa) pitches in to help time and again. This book is very similar to the last book, except stakes have been raised a little. With her daughter actively involved, Kate spends a lot of time worried about her. David/Eric her dead husband brought back to life, is flirting with her and making her weak in the knees...unfortunately her new husband Stuart does the same. Now a super demon is about to rise and take over the world and right when Kate is in the middle of planning the neighborhood Easter Egg hunt! I actually thought the Easter Egg hunt seemed forced...there was very minimal attention given to that plot and I think it could have been used for some funny stuff. I was somewhat annoyed that everyone and their brother knew about Kate except her husband Stuart...even baby Timmy seems like he has gotten used to 'the monsters'.
And I admit to thinking Stuart was kinda lame earlier in the series but he really steps things up a notch in this series, and I for one am rooting for him to end up winning the girl. The back and forth romance between Kate and Stuart or Kate and David/Eric got old. It bothered me that as a reader I couldn't even begin to guess at who she truly loved. I guess that is Kenner's point and Kate loves both...but it bothered me that she bounces between the two here. If this triangle isn't resolved in the next installment, I think its going to become a very tiresome storyline. Positives The book still had a laugh aloud moment and amusement throughout. Kenner's writing is solid and always enjoyable. Her cast of characters is one of the best in any series and I have to give Eddie a shout out! I'd like to have seen less love triangle and more action..either with the demons or with her kids. Overall this is still very enjoyable and fans of the previous books shouldn't miss it.
